Teen Driver Seriously Injured When Car Slams Into Tree On Route 287: Njsp

An 18-year-old from Rhode Island was seriously injured after his car crashed into tree while driving on Route 287 in Morris County on Monday, March 11, authorities said.

At 2:45 p.m., the 18-year-old was traveling southbound in a Ford on Route 287 in Harding Township when he lost directional control, veered off the roadway right and crashed into a tree, Troy McNair, a spokesman for the New Jersey State Police, said. 

The driver was taken to an area hospital with serious injuries, McNair said. The crash remains under investigation, McNair said.
